This is a horrifying claim.
The new Whitney Houston documentary Whitney covers a lot of ground about the legendary singer’s life and death — and one thing that was a real bombshell is a new molestation allegation centered on Whitney’s cousin Dee Dee Warwick.
This isn’t the first time we’ve reported on the alleged molestation of Whitney, by Warwick, which supposedly took place when Houston was just a child.
But now that the documentary has officially been released to the public, the allegations — which originally came from Whitney’s half-brother Gary Garland, who said Dee Dee molested him, as well — are getting new life and new reaction.
Well now, in a new statement put out to People on Wednesday afternoon, Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston (pictured alongside her daughter, above) denies the allegations completely (below):
“Dee Dee may have had her personal challenges but the idea that she would have molested my children is overwhelming and for us unfathomable. We cannot reconcile the Public’s need to know about Whitney’s life as justification for invasion of her privacy or the charge against Dee Dee, a charge which neither Whitney nor Dee Dee is here to deny, refute or affirm. We cannot, however, overstate the shock and horror we feel and the difficulty we have believing that my niece Dee Dee Warwick molested two of my three children.”
That statement was jointly released by Dionne Warwick, as well — a famous singer in her own right, and Dee Dee’s sister.
Cissy’s statement continued on, too, damning the filmmakers of the documentary for even taking those rumors and hearsay seriously enough in the first place (below):
“While the filmmakers certainly had the legal right to make this film, I wonder at the moral right.”
Wow! Not messing around…
What do U think, Perezcious readers?!
It sounds like the family is NOT having this at all — are they in denial, or approaching things the right way?
Sound off in the comments (below)…
